Nakagawa Soen (1907-1984) "Big Bodhisattvas, Small Bodhisattvas, Together in the Year of the Ox." The “Year of the Ox” is an actual year (in this case, 1974) and also refers to an Ox carrying both big and small people on its back, without discrimination. Also, each New Year Soen looked upon everyone with a fresh eye, seeing only big and small beings capable of enlightenment.
