  Portrait of a Woman

Oil on board
A rare original oil painting on board by well known Hawaii artist, Huc Mazelet Luquiens. The painting is in excellent condition (no holes, tears, scratches or damage of any kind). Seen in side profile is an unknown woman wearing a very proper black and white uniform. Her clothing brings to mind some type of professorial or clerical dress. Undoubtedly, this painting was done during the artist's time in the New England area (perhaps one of his Yale professors or colleagues?). The painting itself measures 12 inches wide by 18 inches tall. With its gold frame, it measures 15-1/2 inches wide by 21-1/2 inches tall. Please take a close look at the photographs to see his extremely fine brush work. The subtle glow on the woman's cheeks and the treatment of the hair shows his mastery and ease. Provenance: This painting comes directly from the family of Huc Mazelet Luquiens. Although it is not signed, it will come with a letter from the family, certifying its authenticity. This piece was originally discovered about 30 years ago when reframing another original oil painting in the family's posession. It has since remained in the family's care and remained in great condition.
