“Enso: The Timeless
Circle,” a collection of over 60 Zen circle paintings. The variety of the enso
paintings in this exhibition are fascinating, all of them original, thought
provoking, and inspiring. Some enso paintings are profound, some are
inscrutable, some humorous, and all are a window to the world of enlightenment.
Guest curator, Professor John Stevens, is the author of many books on Asian
culture and a world authority on Zen art. Each enso painting has been translated
by Prof. Stevens and his understanding of the language as well as Zen culture
guide us to the meanings of each enso.
