18th-19th century Mongolian astamangala, a painting of one of the 8 symbols of Buddhism done in mineral pigments on treated fabric. Each of the 8 symbols of Buddhism (white parasol, two fish, sankha, dhvaja, srivatsa, kalasa, padma, and chamaru) carries a symbolic reference to the ideas of the Buddhist dharma. They are also expressions of the individual paths of the "8-Fold Path" which describes the disciplines necessary to achieve enlightenment.
