19th century porcelain snuff bottle with a glass top imitating coral. It is not uncommon to find porcelain objects, whether snuff bottles or otherwise, with reign marks that are not correct. In some cases it is meant to deceive, but mostly it is a tribute to earlier and traditional art. The image is created here by a cobalt blue under the glaze, and small areas of red produced by copper oxide. There is a collar of cracked ice.
