An original hand-printed etching by John Kelly. Titled, "Dancing Girl" and signed by the artist in bottom margin with embossed seal. Also signed in the plate in lower right of image with circular symbol which he began to use in the 1940s.
Kelly did several variations of this particular image, usually titled "Grass Skirt". Originally drawn in 1928, he revisited this image many times over a period of more than 11 years. A similar version of this image was issued as the 1953 Honolulu Printmakers gift print. Other versions of this image can be seen in the book, "John Melville Kelly: Hawaiian Idyll" on pages 60-65.
