This is a highly creative calligraphic representation for the single character ICHI. The four smaller characters are the opening line of the Thousand-Character Classic, the primary training manual used for calligraphy practice throughout East Asia. (The second line is "The Cosmos is full of awesome power.")

Comes with a funky box signed and sealed by Kosho himself.

Shimizu Kosho (1911-1999) was long-time abbot of the famous temple Todai-ji (home of the Great Buddha) in Nara. Kosho was a popular and prolific artist in various media. He was also a type of performance artist, known as the "Madcap Abbot."
