Pair of Chinese ceramic monkeys, ca 1910. Pair of Chinese porcelain monkeys looking at each other, each one holding a peach. There is the story of Magu, the Queen of the Western Paradise, who had a peach orchard that came to fruit every 3000 years. Those peaches gave immortal life to those who ate them. There are stories of this monkey or that monkey that stole a peach and lives forever.
