This is a 1950's Thai palad-khik (phallic amulet) carved following the natural lines of a tree root. It was held in safe-keeping by the tribal village headman of the Khmu people to be used in rituals to promote necessary change and good luck for the village. From Ubonratchathani, which is in the northeast section of Thailand near the Cambodian border.
