This is Daruma sitting in his cave but instead of facing the wall in contemplation, he is glaring intently outside.
The inscription sums up Daruma's life:
"He spent nine years facing the wall, but his teaching legacy lasts forever."
The artist uses the pen name Chidaruma which means "covered with blood," or in this case "permeated with Daruma's Zen essence."
