Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) mottled nephrite reticulated jade carving of a scholar and attendant, in wood stand. Pine and peony form a rich floral background with a bird approaching a flower.This plaque is made of rather thick mottled nephrite jade with various inclusions. The carving was done during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and reflects the more masculine and textural taste of that period.
