Chinese carved Suzhou agate snuff bottle, ca 1850. Liu Hai is one of the immortals of Taoism. In the mustard colored relief carving on the face of this bottle he is shown directing the three legged toad back into its lair. The toad is at the bottom of the face with pine branches in the background. This translucent agate has the color of dark amber. The bottle is large and well hollowed.
