The head has been carved with a meditative expression, downcast eyes, a well defined nose, and broad lips outlined with incised lines. The head and usnisha (extra cranial protuberance) are covered with rows of small knobs representing hair curls. The usnisha is surmounted by a lotus flower that once supported a symbolic flame.
