Also known as:
Anne Irons has lived in Honolulu for forty years. A former art teacher, she now devotes full time to painting in a variety of media and subject matter. Watercolor and acrylic have become here staple. She enjoys the spontaneity of water based media and the portability of it allowing painting outside, directly from Hawaii's abundant stimuli.
Anne also works in the print making medium. Monoprints give her the opportunity to work with simplified shapes, saturated color and unusual composition in order to create strong works of art that are provocative to the senses. Her goal is to involve the viewer in alternative ways to look at things, initiating spontaneous excitement similar to the act of discovery.
After teaching art for ten years in private schools in Hawaii, Anne left the classroom to pursue art in earnest. Since that time she has won many awards in juried shows, including 'Best of Show' in five separate exhibitions. She has been featured in numerous one-woman shows. Anne's paintings and prints are included in the State Foundation on Culture & The Arts, The Contemporary Museum, and many corporate and private collections.
