Anton Slothower was born in Amsterdam in 1949. He studied painting at the Royal Art Academy of Amsterdam in 1968-1972. After graduating he traveled throughout most African countries where he made sketches and did oil paintings of tribes and African landscapes which he exhibited at the Wave Gallery in Amsterdam (1972-1973) and the Clignan Court Gallery in Paris (1973-1974). In the mid seventies he traveled through South East Asia, and fell in love with the Philippines where he met his present wife and settled on the island of Mindoro. During the 15 years he worked and lived there he sent his paintings to Holland and Germany where they were exhibited in the Wave Gallery and the Eisenbach Gallery. He presently divides his time between Holland and Mindoro where he works on his paintings and finds the inspiration for his present work. He has received numerous art awards in Europe and is represented exclusively by Robyn Buntin of Honolulu in the United States.
