Early 20th century chabako for the Japanese Tea Ceremony, done in bamboo basketwork and lacquer. The body and lid are bamboo basketwork; the lip of the lid is done in black lacquer with gold Chinese grass design. The inside of the box is lined in silk, and there is a silk carrying bag. This was a gift from the Urasenke Tea Master, Tantansai, to a student.
